Brønshøj Water Tower is a cultural center under the City of Copenhagen. It became part of Copenhagen’s cultural offerings in 2019, when the water tower was inaugurated as a cultural house under the municipality. It is a cultural venue with up to 40 seconds of reverberation for the lowest tones—a cathedral for light and sound enthusiasts, a kind of “water church” used for civil weddings, and a raw, unpolished concrete frame that attracts an increasing number of artists seeking an alternative to the traditional performance venue or the sterile white cube of exhibition spaces.
The water tower has hosted events ranging from tea ceremonies and ambient music to black metal, avant-garde music, contemporary art, new circus, vocal music, opera, classical music, theater, and architectural exhibitions. These events have always been created in collaboration with Copenhagen’s many cultural creators and actors from Denmark and abroad, who have fallen in love with the tower's unique setting.
Today, Brønshøj Water Tower is more than a landmark in the neighborhood. It has become a meeting place and an integral part of the capital's cultural infrastructure. It is a venue for immersive experiences where sound, light, body, and architecture always intersect in a special way.
