Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

General

1) What are the requirements for me as a volunteer?

Kulturens Frivillige makes it easy to become a volunteer, and we only have a few basic ground rules that everyone must apply to:

  • You must show up for all shifts you have signed up for.

  • You must notify the event’s contact person if you are unable to attend on short notice, e.g., due to illness.

  • You must be able and willing to perform the task associated with your shift.

Read all our community guidelines here.

2) What are the requirements for creating a profile?

You must be at least 18 years old and legally allowed to stay and take on volunteer work in Denmark.

If you receive public benefits or are staying temporarily in Denmark, you must check which rules apply to you.

Additionally, you must comply with our community guide lines.

3) Does it cost anything to use Kulturens Frivillige?

No. Kulturens Frivillige is free for both volunteers and organizers in the municipalities where we operate.

4) Who is behind Kulturens Frivillige?

Kulturens Frivillige is part of Kulturens Selvstændige – a non-profit association.

You can read more about us here.

5) Am I required to take a certain number of shifts?

No. You decide which and how many shifts you want to take.

Some volunteer groups or tasks may have specific requirements for participation, which will be stated in the task description. Always read the description carefully before signing up.

6) Can I volunteer in multiple municipalities?

Currently, Kulturens Frivillige is only available in Copenhagen. However, similar initiatives exist in Aarhus, Randers, Nyborg etc. which use the same platform, Rehelper, and where you can also take shifts. It’s easy to carry your information with you if you want to be active in multiple places. You simply need to create a new user account on each municipality's platform.

You can view all Rehelper Platforms here.

Account Creation and Login

1) How do I sign up as a volunteer at Kulturens Frivillig?

You sign up via the homepage of our volunteer platform: portal.kulturensfrivillige.dk. Click “Create Account” in the top right corner and follow the instructions.

2) Why do I need a personal profile as a volunteer?

All users of the platform – both volunteers and organizers – must have a personal profile. This ensures communication on the platform is trustworthy and personal.

3) When I try to create a new account, I’m told the phone number is already in use.

A phone number can only be linked to one account. You must delete or change the number on an existing account before using it for a new one.

Once you are logged in to the platform, you can edit your information by clicking your round profile picture or initials in the top right corner. Select “My Account".

4a) Why am I not receiving a link when creating an account?
4b) Why am I not receiving a link when I click “Forgot your password? Send login link”?
4c) Why does the login link I received not work?

Email providers (e.g., Outlook, Gmail, etc.) often group emails from the same sender with the same subject line. Delete all emails with the subject from Kulturens Frivillige or Noreply.xooom or Rehelper, and try again.

5) I just created a new user, but my personal overview of activities doesn’t appear on the front page.

Wait a minute and reload the page.

Using the Platform

1) How do I find volunteer tasks that suit me?

When logged in to the volunteer platform, you can find tasks that suit you based on your interests, geographic location, preferred time, or organizer. Once you find a task you want to participate in, simply click “Sign up" next to the shift that suits you. You’ll then receive a confirmation email, and the shift will appear on “My Page”.

You can also request access to organizers’ volunteer groups that match your interests. But remember, you still need to sign up for a specific shift – even if you’re a group member.

If you favorite (heart) an event, the organizer can send you emails – e.g., when new shifts are posted.

2) How do I cancel a shift I’ve signed up for?

You can cancel a shift yourself via “My page”. Be aware that there is usually a deadline for cancellations. If you have to cancel on short notice, contact the event’s contact person directly.

3) How do I contact the organizer?

Once you’re signed up for a task, the organizer is usually the one who can answer your questions about the task, shift, event, etc. You’ll find contact details for the organizer’s contact person via “My page” on the platform. Other relevant contact information may also be found in emails from the organizer.

4) How do notifications and messages work?

You automatically receive notifications when something relevant happens – for example, if you're assigned or removed from a shift.

If a shift you are signed up for changes – e.g., if it's extended – you’ll receive a new request to accept the shift, which you must confirm to keep it. The same applies if you’re on a waiting list and are assigned a newly available shift.

5) How do I change my email address and phone number?

When logged in to the platform, you can edit your information by clicking your round profile picture or initials in the top right corner. Select “My Account".

6) Where can I see which shifts and activities I’ve signed up for?

Your current shifts appear on “My page”, which you always have access to when logged into the platform.

7) I’m told "I’m already booked" when I try to take a shift.

You can’t sign up for two shifts at the same time. This scheduling conflict check applies across both shifts and waiting lists.

If it says you’re booked on a specific date but nothing shows on your shift overview, it’s most likely because you’re already on the waiting list for a task on that date. You can see which shifts you’re on the waiting list for via “My page” when logged into the platform.

8) Where can I see my waiting list shifts? And how does the waiting list work?

You can see which shifts you’re on the waiting list for on “My page” when logged into the platform. When a volunteer cancels from a full shift with a waiting list, the shift is automatically offered to someone on the waiting list. If you’re on a shift’s waiting list, the organizer can also manually add you to the shift from their dashboard.

9) How do I switch languages between Danish and English?

When logged in to the platform, go to “My Account". Here you can view and change your language settings.
